Gasparilla Pageant 2008, January 13, 2008 at Westin Harbour Island.
For the first time, there was a pirate invasion at the Gasparilla Pageant. Our krewe was invited to "bead" the contestants and guests. We did that with great success. The pagent let us put up a booth to highlight our krewe. Jackie and Lori spent Saturday afternoon drinking rum (Jackie) and bourbon (Lori) and creating our booth. It gathered lots of attention and some serious interest in our krewe.
This young gentleman came by our booth before competing. He is huge fan of pirates and came back to us to tell us he won. With those looks and his personality, he's going to be a heartbreaker.
This young lady also came by the booth before competing. She also won. We noticed that all the kids that "met the pirates" went on to win. We must be good luck charms.
These are the contestants for Miss Gasparilla 2008. They are getting their last minute briefing from last year's winners. The winner, if she is over 21, will be offered an opportunity to may join us during the Knight Parade.
Heather spent a lot of time with us during breaks. Lori finally grabbed her to get a picture.
John seemed to enjoy the pageant. He was particularly alert during the bathing suit portion of the adult pageant. (Can't you tell from the smile?)
We will be back again next year. We'll have our new costumes and make an even bigger impression. Special thanks to all that helped out.
