For 2008, the preliminary forecast calls for a total of 13 named storms in the Atlantic with 7 of those being major hurricanes. It also says it is probable that at least one major hurricane will hit the U.S. coastline. Thinking back on how we scrambled to help folks stricken by Hurricanes Katrina, Rita and Wilma, as krewe members, we never want to have to do that scramble again. THIS is why Krewes Kare was formed and why every member of every IKC Member Krewe is represented by Krewes Kare, and why it's important that you get involved. The "World's Largest Hurricane Expo & Party" is a really fun way to make sure we're prepared to help our neighbors in the event the forecasts are on target this year.
This year's event will be all new - held at Zendah Grotto, 4402 North West Ohio Avenue, in Tampa, behind the Tampa HCC Campus

2nd Annual Half Way to Halloween Party sponsored by the Krewe of Hillsborough is Friday May 9th from 6-10pm at Club Skye in Ybor. There will be free beer, some food, drink specials, a DJ, prizes, and a Halloween costume contest. Join bay area Quest teams and compete for the ultimate prize, the “Quest for Hope Challenge.” The Quest pits patriots, pirates, local heroes and fun seekers in a fun filled challenge and scavenger hunt extravaganza! Location: Armed with a remarkable list of challenges and search items, 5 person teams must use cunning, strategy and a little insanity to navigate through 18 plus venues, attractions and historical landmarks in Ybor and Channelside. Teams will put their physical and mental talents to the test in this treasure trove of excitement making it one unforgettable evening you don't want to miss! So consider yourself warned, this real world scavenger challenge is only for the hardiest and savviest. Time: The event starts May 17th at 6:00pm at Channelside Courtyard, with team check-in starting at 5:00pm, and goes until 10:00pm sharp ending at the Columbia Restaurant Ybor City, where a fun filled finish line VIP party and celebrity judging will be held. Please join us on May 17, 2008 from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. for the 4th annual Krewe of Brigadoon Kickball Tournament at Gadsden Park at 6901 South MacDill Avenue in Tampa. All profits will go to the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Sarasota/Tampa Bay, Inc. Brigadoon's goal is to raise more than $4,500 so that we can fulfill a wish in its entirety.
There will be twelve teams of ten to fifteen players competing for first place and a trophy. Food, t-shirts, and goodie bags will be provided to the teams. The cost is $30 per person. If you sign up before May 2nd you will only be charged $25.
